Bhagirathi River Rafting Tour PackageThe Bhagirathi River Expedition is considered
to be one of the best river trips in the Indian Himalaya. The Himalaya are the
origin of the Bhagirathi river at Gaumukh, which rages through spectacular
valleys and gorges till Devprayag where it merges with the Alaknanda river to
become one of the world’s most revered and sacred rivers - the Ganga. Rated as
a class lV river, the Bhagirathi offers some wild white water thrills during its
winding course. The best time to run this river is mid October through till mid
April and can be done in about eight days. A sample itinerary for the trip will look like this. DAY
1 Arrive Camp
Depart from Delhi early morning to arrive at the camp RapidFire for lunch. The afternoon training and instruction programme introduces you to the art of river running and the equipment that we will be using. Overnight at the Camp RapidFire. DAY
2 Training day on the Ganges
Today we continue our
training programme. After lunch you are free to enjoy the camp facilities or
a pleasant walk to a village nearby or just relax on the sandy beach. May
be you will enjoy a game of Volleyball. Lets see if you can challenge the camp
boys for a match and win it too. Evening bonfire and Dinner. Overnight at the
camp RapidFire. DAY
3 Tehri - Nagar
Village
Drive for four hours to
Tehri, the expedition put-in point. The boats will be set up and we embark on
the river for the main journey south to Shivpuri. Since there is no road support
on this section, the food, tents and gear is carried in water proof bags. Raft to the isolated village
of Nagar. After lunch we enter one of the most exciting stretches on the river,
where there is seldom a break between the rapids. Camp is set up on a large
sandy bank. DAY
4 "The Fall"
After breakfast we resume
our journey through more challenging rapids like `the Fall'. Camp out on an
isolated beach on the river. An hour after 'The Fall' rapid, we stop above the
Devprayag rapid, an exciting grade IV rapid. The small town of Devprayag sits on
the confluence of the Bhagirathi and Alaknanada rivers which merge here to form
the holy Ganga. After Devprayag the river widens out and is relatively calm.
Guests are welcome to 'take over' the raft and experience the thrill of
negotiating the rapids. Camp is set on an isolated beach at Beas Ghat famous for
the Sport Fish Mahasheer. DAY 5 On The River at the Camp RapidFire A relaxed day on the river covering 20 km of grade II rafting. Arrive at the Camp RapidFire for Lunch and the day at leisure. Day
6 "The Wall"
The morning session includes
the second most difficult rapid of our journey, a grade IV zig-zag stretch
called `The Wall'. Back to the camp for lunch. Day at the camp. Day 7 Golf Course and Roller Coaster Today you raft from Shivpuri to NIM Beach covering exciting rapids like the Golf Course, Roller Coaster, Club House and Tee Off. Some real good rapids in quick succession make this run a truly memorable one. After a picnic lunch at NIM Beach we depart for Delhi. Arriving Delhi by late evening. End of Services.
